Synthesis Report Local Governance
This is the synthesis report of the working group on local governance of the network for peace, security and development, a network of Dutch organisations working on these themes internationally. As a working group, they have looked at issues of local government in fragile states, in relation to other actors, both local and national/international. The work has very much focused on practice, working mostly in fragile states, with local government officials and local leaders and. PSDN feeld that state building and peace building should be well designed into laws on decentralisation, and also that they should be logically linked to large discourse in, say, Paris, Accra or Busan. But above all state building and peace building ought to make sense locally, in which case the right support at the right moment of the right process makes a whole lot of difference.
This synthesis report summarises PSDN's findings and conclusions, and lists the products of this working group.
