In this blog, through the case of Lebanon, we demonstrate the potential of near-real-time big data sources to There are nowadays big data sources that have excellent potential to inform policymakers in the field of Security and Rule of Law (SRoL). However, currently the use of big data in the SRoL field is limited. Indeed, it is fair to say that social sciences very rarely use big data. In this blog we demonstrate that the Global Database of Events, Language, and Tone (GDELT) events data can be a big-data information source for the SRoL field and demonstrate its potential by applying it to Lebanon as proof of concept.
