George Mukundi Wachira appointed as Steering Group member of the Platform

On behalf of the Steering Group of the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law, we are pleased to announce that Dr. George Mukundi Wachira has been appointed member of the Steering Group.

George will join the Steering Group with  renowned expertise on the rule of law, constitutionalism, democratic governance, human rights, transitional justice and public administration.

‘His expertise, experience and wealth of knowledge as well as his international networks will be of important added value for the Platform. We very much look forward to working with George in the Steering Group’, said Willem van Genugten, chair of the Steering Group.

He is currently the Head of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) Secretariat, Department of Political Affairs, African Union (AU) Commission.

‘I am honored and look forward to engage with the rest of the experts in the Steering Group and to contribute to its noble objectives’ said George.

A Kenyan national, he has a law degree from the University of Nairobi, Master and Doctor of International Law Degrees from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and a Master in Public Administration Degree from the Harvard, Kennedy School of Government. Prior to joining the AU Commission in 2012, he was the advocacy director, Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, South Africa where he led civil society and policy makers’ engagement with the African Union towards the development of an African transitional justice policy framework.
