Keynote speech by Dorothea Hilhorst (IS Academy/Wageningen University): 'The IS Academy: What Did We Find?', at "Facing Fragilities: people, aid and institutions in socio-economic recovery", the final conference of the IS Academy Human Security in Fragile States, held on September 11, 2014, in The Hague.
This IS Academy was a research consortium including the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wageningen University and five major Dutch NGOs: Oxfam Novib, Red Cross, ZOA, Cordaid and ICCO. We seek to better understand processes of socio-economic recovery and the roles of formal and informal institutions in conditions of state fragility.
