Applications open for the course ‘Effective Advising in Complex and Fragile Situations’

IPAT
Switzerland

The course will take place from Monday evening 25th August to Wednesday noon 3rd September (Saturday 30th August will be time off).

This course "Effective Advising in Complex Fragile Situations" seeks to better prepare current or future advisors by honing essential interactional skills, and by offering guidance on how to understand and navigate the broader political and institutional environments they find themselves in.

It is targeted at individuals that are or in the near future will serve as "advisors" or "technical experts" (civilian or uniformed) supporting public sector organizational and institutional capacity building or reform. These can be "international" but also "regional" or "national" advisors. The course is also relevant for senior personnel of agencies selecting and deploying "advisors".

This course is implemented by the International Peacebuilding Advisory Team (IPAT), an initiative of Interpeace, organized in partnership with the Human Security Division of the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stichting Nederlandse Vrijwilligers (SNV) and the U.S. Institute for Peace (USIP).

The course takes place at the Château de Bossey near Geneva, Switzerland.
