A World to Gain: A New Agenda for Aid, Trade and Investment

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Netherlands)

The official translation of the policy note 'Wat de wereld verdient', as presented to the Dutch parliament by Minister for International Trade and Development Cooperation Liliane Ploumen on the fifth of April 2013.

The policy note describes the priorities of the current Dutch government for trade and investment, poverty alleviation and the growing linkages between these areas. The agenda is based on three important ambitions:

  • The alleviation of severe poverty within the timespan of one generation
  • Sustainable and inclusive growth across the globe
  • Successful business for Dutch companies abroad

Also, the policy note shows how the Dutch government will realise the budget cut in development cooperation, which will amount to one billion Euro in 2017.
