Together with Zahed Yousef, the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law invites you to a presentation of Dialectiq. This innovative online visual platform is designed to support organisations unravel the complex socioeconomic and political dynamics underpinning conflict, develop a shared analysis process and improve adaptive programming.

The aim of this presentation is to explore opportunities for the use of Dialectiq in ongoing research and programming. The presentation will take place at Zeestraat 100 (2nd floor) on 5 June, between 13.00 – 15.00h.

About Dialectiq

Dialectiq is the first initiative of its kind to provide a platform for organisations to explore the differing power and relational dynamics and understand them as they change over time.

At the heart of this approach is a shift to focussing on the need to reshape the power and influence of one stakeholder over another, and to build relationships between them. Dialectiq combines political economy analysis, stakeholder mapping, conflict issues and root cause analysis. By presenting this analysis using a web based visual platform, Dialectiq provides a more dynamic analysis, which can be used to develop theories of change, assess the impact of programme interventions and monitor the changing dynamics as they evolve. So far Dialectiq has been supporting organisations to:

  1. Develop continual analysis: Dialectiq provides a visual analytical framework to explore the underlying interests, power and relational dynamics affecting peace and development outcomes. The analysis can be updated on a continual basis, which allows for ongoing monitoring of the changing dynamics and provides a basis for continuous learning.
  2. Identify strategic priorities: Dialectiq helps users to identify entry points for building coalitions of change and formulating inclusive political settlements. This includes identifying those stakeholders to engage based on their interests and power as well as pinpointing the relationships in need of transformation based on the affect they are having peace and development outcomes.
  3. Develop strategies for change: Dialectiq helps users to map out the different options for building different types of politically feasible solutions. This involves prioritising which relationships to target, assessing the probability of being able to transform them and mapping out different ways to transform these relationships.
  4. Organisational Learning: Dialectiq’s platform can help organisations continually learn about the changing nature of each conflict context. The online platform can capture which activities were effective and share those lessons between programmes or with other agencies.
