The aim of this Conference is to increase academic knowledge of and insight in the concept of transnational crimes, and to gather practical experience in criminal law enforcement in respect of transnational crimes. More specifically, the Conference will explore whether the distinction in legal regime between supranational crimes (aggression, genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes) and transnational crimes (terrorism, trafficking in human beings, illicit drugs trafficking, piracy etc.) is still warranted, in view of the blurring boundaries between both categories.

This Conference serves as a meeting place for practitioners and both senior and junior scholars. The programme will consist of three panel sessions, in which renowned scholars will address sub topics related to the Conference theme. In addition, junior researchers will present their findings on specific transnational crimes, regional challenges and solutions, or the interface between international and domestic criminal law enforcement.

Program of the Conference

Please register before 1 December 2014

The Conference is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the University of Amsterdam.
