Training on re-establishing security, rule of law and good governance in fragile and conflict affected areas

From September 1-12 in The Hague, the Hague Institute for Global Justice and its partner, the Hague Academy for Local Governance, will lead the 2nd module of a 6-week training program on Governance and Rule of Law. 

While the 1st module focused on re-establishing legitimacy, the 2nd module will delve into issues related to re-establishing security in fragile and conflict affected areas with interactive sessions on various cutting edge topics, including but not limited to:

-        Human security

-        Security Sector Reform

-        Negotiation exercise on current conflict

-        Transitional justice models in post-conflict societies

-        Water and food insecurity challenges

-        Customary justice systems

In addition to the classroom sessions, participants will have the opportunity to visit and learn more about international legal organizations such as the International Criminal Court.

Led by academics and experts from various fields of practice including conflict prevention, rule of law promotion, security sector reform, public service delivery and local economic development, the training involve participants in exercises based on research studies and practical cases.

Professionals from government agencies, civil society and non-governmental organizations, as well as international institutions working on these issues are strongly encouraged to participate.
