The Hague Institute for Global Justice and SPARK welcome international experts and business entrepreneurs to a conference that aims to advance international policy dialogue. The conference will present research on the private sector’s role in the promotion of human rights and peacebuilding in fragile and conflict-affected states.

The conference will review progress of the international business community in realizing commitments associated with the UN Global Compact and Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and their relationship to other normative frameworks. This includes The Hague Approach, a high-level initiative launched by The Hague Institute in 2013, which sets out six key principles for achieving sustainable peace in post-conflict situations.

The participants will be invited to consider the reforms, tools, and training required for strengthening private sector efforts to promote global norms in the areas of human rights, labor, good governance and environmental commitments in fragile and conflict-affected societies, drawing on first-hand experience from the field, including Afghanistan, Burundi and Liberia.

Through this conference, The Hague Institute and SPARK endeavor to map out policy solutions and research to support business and labor groups committed to peace and justice in global governance.

Representatives from the private and public sector, civil society organizations and academia with expertise in sustainable human development and corporate social responsibility in fragile and conflict-affected states are encouraged to contact Ms. Manuella Appiah
