The NL Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are currently considering NL options in investigating the challenges which Somalia has to overcome in the coming years in order to become a functioning state again, through a more comprehensive approach. In fact, the NL House of Representatives is having a general consultation on current policies towards Somalia on 3 July.

The Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law and TNO are co-organizing the Pilot Conflict Assessment for Somalia, and we are happy to invite you, as one of the acknowledged experts, to participate in this pilot.  It may be clear to you that this pilot is an excellent opportunity for the participants to provide input to both Ministries and the policy development towards Somalia.

The goal of the pilot is twofold. The first is to have a comprehensive assessment with a selected group of experts from different stakeholders resulting in a shared multi-actor insight in, and analysis of, the situation on the ground in Somalia. The multi-actor setting will provide an additional opportunity for the different stakeholders to synchronize and hence strengthen their individual knowledge of the country. Secondly, the aim is to evaluate the organizational and methodological approach and its results used for this pilot so that can be assessed whether this approach is also applicable to other countries.
